How Adventure Time RPG weapons, upgrades and the four-element system work in Beta, with the real player counts behind each progression badge.
Adventure Time RPG Weapons and Upgrades
Adventure Time RPG tracks four separate weapon ladders: how many weapons you own, how far you upgrade one, how many you upgrade overall, and how much elemental damage you deal. The game description puts it plainly — "power up and level weapons" — but the interesting part is how the Beta's own badges show players behaving. Upgrading is near-universal; collecting is not; and taking a single weapon to level 10 is a wall almost nobody has crossed.
Here is the whole system as the Beta reports it on October 26, 2026, with the exact holder counts for every rung.

The Four Weapon Ladders
1. Collection: 5, 15, 30 weapons
| Badge | Requirement | Holders (Oct 26) | Share of previous rung |
|---|---|---|---|
| Armed | Own 5 weapons | 60,328 | — |
| Well Armed | Own 15 weapons | 15,459 | 25.6% |
| Arsenal | Own 30 weapons | 3,904 | 25.3% |
Two things stand out. First, five weapons is effectively the tutorial — 60,328 players have it, which is close to the number who have upgraded anything at all. Second, the drop-off between rungs is a flat quarter each time. That is unusually consistent for a loot game, and it suggests weapon acquisition is gated by something predictable (shop tiers or dungeon depth) rather than by rare random drops. If drops were the gate, the third rung would collapse to a few percent instead of holding at 25%.
2. Depth: upgrading one weapon to level 10
| Badge | Requirement | Holders (Oct 26) | Share of Armed holders |
|---|---|---|---|
| Armoury Enthusiast | Upgrade any weapon once | 64,268 | 107% |
| Sword Saint | Upgrade 10 different weapons | 1,989 | 3.3% |
| Legendary Gear | Take a single weapon to level 10 | 230 | 0.4% |
Armoury Enthusiast (64,268) is larger than Armed (60,328), which tells you something useful: some players upgrade before they own five weapons, so upgrading is the earlier and more essential action. The first upgrade is free-feeling. Then the curve turns brutal — ten upgraded weapons is 3% of the player base, and one weapon at level 10 is 230 accounts out of 1.59 million visits.
The practical read: level 10 is not a casual goal, so do not spread materials across every weapon you find. Pick one, push it, and let the collection badges fill in from drops you never upgrade.
3. Elements: four damage types, three thresholds
| Badge | Requirement | Holders (Oct 26) |
|---|---|---|
| That's So Wizard | Land 50 elemental hits | 21,418 |
| Elemental | Land 500 elemental hits | 10,594 |
| Master of Elements | Land 2,000 elemental hits | 3,211 |
| Elementalist | Deal damage with all four elements | 0 |
Four elements exist, and elemental damage is not a side system — 21,418 players have landed fifty elemental hits, which is a third of everyone who has cleared a run. Half of that group goes on to 500. Only 15% of the 500 group reaches 2,000, so elemental damage is easy to start and slow to master.
Nobody has the all-four-elements badge. Zero holders on a badge that only requires four damage types is the strongest signal in the Beta that one element is not yet obtainable — either it sits behind content that has not shipped, or it needs a weapon drop that is not in the pool. Do not build a plan around a four-element loadout until a patch lands.
4. Where weapons come from
The Beta does not publish drop tables. What is confirmed:
- Weapons are gear you equip per hero, and upgrades persist on the weapon rather than the character.
- The Starter Pack pass — currently off sale — bundles "gems, coins and starter gear", so a shop-based acquisition route exists.
- Boss and dungeon content is the only other documented source, since the game's own copy promises "smack down mobs and mega bosses" and tracks boss kills separately.
Exact drop rates, material names and the coin cost of a level 10 upgrade are all unpublished. Any table claiming otherwise right now is fabricated.
What "Level 10" Probably Costs, Judged From Player Behaviour
The holder counts let you estimate the shape of the grind without a patch note. If levelling to 10 were cheap, Sword Saint (ten weapons upgraded) would be common. It is not — 1,989 accounts. Meanwhile a single weapon at level 10 is 230. That inversion matters: going deep on one weapon is rarer than upgrading ten shallowly, which is only possible if the last levels of a weapon cost disproportionately more than the first levels of ten different weapons.
That in turn explains why the community tier discussions focus on weapon families rather than individual weapons: the cost of committing is the real decision, not the base damage number you cannot see anyway.
A Practical Upgrade Plan for Week One
- Level one weapon to 5 before touching a second. You need Armoury Enthusiast out of the way and you need to feel the per-level curve for yourself.
- Keep every weapon you find. Collection badges are free progression and five weapons is a two-hour goal, not a grind.
- Test elemental hits early. Fifty elemental hits is a cheap badge and it tells you which elements your current weapon family can reach. The all-four badge is currently impossible, so treat three elements as the ceiling.
- Do not chase level 10 in the first week. 230 accounts have it. If you are not already past level 7 on a weapon, the materials are better spent widening your collection.
- Re-check after each weekly patch. The game updates weekly, and an element or a weapon tier appearing in the pool would flip the whole plan.
Do not trust a "best weapon" ranking that quotes exact damage or drop percentages for this Beta. The game publishes badge counts and pass descriptions, nothing more. Everything numeric on this page comes from those badges.
FAQ
How many weapons are in Adventure Time RPG? At least 30 — the Arsenal badge requires owning 30, and 3,904 players have it. The full list is not published.
What is the max weapon level? Level 10 is confirmed by the Legendary Gear badge, which requires a single weapon at level 10. Whether 10 is the cap or simply a milestone is not stated.
How many elements are there? Four. The Elementalist badge requires dealing damage with all four, and nobody has earned it yet.
Do weapon upgrades carry between heroes? Upgrades are attached to the weapon, and weapons are shared gear. The Beta does not publish hero-specific weapon restrictions, and no badge references one.
Is the Starter Pack worth buying? It is not currently for sale, and its contents are described only as gems, coins and starter gear. No price is published, so there is nothing to compare.
