Adventure Time RPG Fishing and Tree House Guide: The 7-Badge Ladder Nobody Finishes

Adventure Time RPG fishing guide: first catch to 1,000 fish, why only 66 players pass 250, the Whopper and species badges, and the Tree House base.

Adventure Time RPG Fishing and Tree House Guide

Fishing is the second-most-tried system in Adventure Time RPG — 47,182 players have landed a first fish — and the least-finished: 66 have caught 250. That gap is the single most extreme retention curve in the Beta, and it says something useful about how the mode is built.

The Tree House is the other half of this loop. The developers describe it plainly as a place to hang out, which is the only thing that is officially confirmed about it.

Badge Requirement Holders (Oct 26) Share of first catch
First Catch Catch a fish 47,182 100%
Whopper Land a large fish 18,181 38.5%
Fish Spotter Catch 10 species 3,158 6.7%
Sunken Treasure Open 10 fishing chests 1,345 2.8%
Rare Breed Catch 20 rare fish 187 0.4%
Reeling Them In Catch 250 fish 66 0.14%
Master Angler Catch 1,000 fish 4 0.008%

What Fishing Actually Is

Confirmed by the game:

  • A fishing activity exists and is described as a source of rewards.
  • It has species (Fish Spotter requires ten) and rarity tiers (Rare Breed requires twenty rare catches).
  • It produces chests — Sunken Treasure is specifically about fishing up ten of them.
  • Fish have size, or at least one size-based badge: Whopper.

Not confirmed: cast timing, bait, rod upgrades, sell prices, whether fishing is instanced, or whether the Tree House stores your catch. Any guide quoting a rod tier list or a per-fish coin value today is inventing it.

The Two Axes: Size and Species

The badge data splits fishing into two very different tasks, and most players only do one of them.

Size is easy. 18,181 players — 38.5% of everyone who has fished — landed a Whopper. Whatever the threshold is, it happens early and often, probably on a normal cast with a bit of luck.

Species is hard. Only 3,158 players have caught ten different fish. That is a 5.8x drop from Whopper holders, and it cannot be explained by time spent, because the same population produced 18,181 whoppers. Species diversity is gated by something else: location, time, bait, or rarity.

If you want the fishing badge count to move, stop optimising for size. Chase new species. The Whopper will come on its own.

Why 250 Fish Is a Ghost Town

The number that defines the mode is 66. That is how many accounts have caught 250 fish — 0.14% of everyone who ever fished, and a 99.86% drop from the first-catch population.

Three readings, all consistent with the data:

  1. The reward curve flattens fast. If the first chest pays well and later ones do not, players fish until the novelty ends and leave.
  2. Fishing competes with combat for the same session time. Dungeon Train rooms pay badges and XP; fishing pays badges. When a player has one hour, the train wins.
  3. The 250 target is invisible. Nothing in the game tells a casual player that 250 is a badge, so nobody paces toward it.

The practical takeaway is the reverse of most guides: fishing is not a good primary money loop in this Beta, because almost nobody sustains it. It is a badge-and-collection activity to run in short sessions, ideally while waiting for a squad.

Sunken Treasure Is Its Own Ladder

1,345 players have opened ten fishing chests. That is roughly 43% of the Fish Spotter population — so most players who get serious about species also find chests. Chests appear to be the reward payload of fishing: whatever Coins or Gems fishing pays, they arrive inside those boxes rather than per fish.

Ten chests is a modest target. If you are fishing anyway, this is the badge to aim at first, because it is the only one where the reward (the chest contents) and the badge arrive together.

The Rare-Fish Tier

187 accounts have caught twenty rare fish. Rare Breed is the point where fishing stops being a side activity: you need twenty separate rare catches, which implies either a repeatable rare spot or enough time at the water to hit a low-probability roll twenty times.

For context, 60 accounts have killed 200 bosses. Rare fishing is roughly three times as exclusive as the boss grind's top tier — in a system that has been live for five days. That is enough to call it a long-term collection goal, not a week-one target.

The Tree House

The official description calls the Tree House a place to hang out. That is the whole confirmed feature: it is a social space, and it is one of the five pillars the developers chose to advertise.

What follows is inference, clearly labelled: a hangout space in a game with fishing, cooking consumables and buddy raising is very likely a base for displaying or storing those things. Community guides describe it as a hub with utility, but no specific function has been documented. Test it yourself in the first session — walk in, check for storage, a cooking station, a buddy pen, a fishing hole — and you will know more than any published guide.

Does the Tree House Do Anything Mechanical?

Unpublished. Do not spend Coins on a Tree House upgrade assuming a stat benefit. The only confirmed function is social, and the game already pays you for being social through squad badges: Team Finn (78,238) rewards a clean clear, Come On Grab Your Friends (14,932) rewards a full squad.

A Practical Fishing Plan

  1. Fish until First Catch and your first Whopper. Both arrive fast; 18,181 players have the size badge.
  2. Switch spots until Fish Spotter fires. Ten species is the real gate — move rather than grind.
  3. Push to ten chests for Sunken Treasure. It is the only fishing badge that pays twice.
  4. Treat 250, 1,000 and Rare Breed as background goals. 66 / 4 / 187 holders respectively. They are not week-one content.
  5. Check the Tree House early and note what it actually offers before any guide tells you what it offers.

FAQ

How many fish badges are there? Seven: First Catch, Whopper, Fish Spotter, Sunken Treasure, Rare Breed, Reeling Them In (250) and Master Angler (1,000).

What is the fastest fishing badge? First Catch, then Whopper — 38.5% of first-catch players hold the size badge without trying.

Why can't I catch 10 species? Species are almost certainly gated by location or condition rather than luck. Only 3,158 players have ten species despite 18,181 having a Whopper, so change where and when you fish.

What does the Tree House do? Officially, it is a hangout. No mechanical function is documented, and no guide that claims storage or crafting bonuses has a confirmed source.

Is fishing worth it for money? Unknown — fish prices are unpublished, and only 66 accounts have caught 250 fish. Treat it as a collection and badge activity, not a proven income loop.
