The five Adventure Time RPG launch heroes, what Beta confirms about each, how character unlocks and skins work, and the squad sizes that earn badges.
Adventure Time RPG Characters: All 5 Launch Heroes
Adventure Time RPG launched with five playable heroes: Finn, Jake, Princess Bubblegum, Marceline and BMO. All five appear in the official key art and in the game's own "play as your favourite characters" line, and none of them is sold through the six game passes — so the roster you see at the character select is the roster the Beta shipped with, not a shop preview.
The catch is that Oh My Glob Games has not published a stat sheet. There is no Trello, no wiki maintained by the developers, and no in-game panel that shows base damage or scaling. What the Beta does publish is telemetry: 3,032 players had earned the Hero Collector badge (own five characters) by October 26, against 78,238 who had cleared a run. That gap is the real story of the character system, and it is what this page is built around.

The Five Launch Heroes at a Glance
| Hero | Confirmed in Beta | Sold in a pass? | What to test first |
|---|---|---|---|
| Finn | Launch hero, in key art, sword-led kit shown in official screenshots | No | Melee reach and whether sword hits cleave multiple mobs |
| Jake | Launch hero, in key art, stretch/utility framing in official copy | No | Whether stretch abilities reach through walls or pull mobs |
| Princess Bubblegum | Launch hero, in key art | No | Support output — heals, buffs, or neither |
| Marceline | Launch hero, in key art | No | Sustain: lifesteal versus raw damage |
| BMO | Launch hero, in key art, stars in the Hero Training pass art | No | Whether gadgets count as weapons for upgrade badges |
That table is deliberately thin on numbers. Base HP, attack scaling, cooldowns and per-hero passives are all unpublished in the Beta, and any site quoting exact "Finn does 42 damage per swing" figures today is guessing. The column on the right is the honest answer: these are the questions worth answering with your own testing rather than copying someone's invented tier list.
Why No Hero Is Behind a Paywall
The game has six game passes and not one of them grants a character. Hero Training gives +25% XP to all characters, permanently — a boost to whoever you already own, not a key to a locked one. BMO's Extra Life adds a life in solo adventures, and Return Ticket adds a revive in the Dungeon Train. The roster therefore grows through play: coins, quests and drops.
The Roster Is Bigger Than Five
The badge list gives away the design intent. Three character badges sit on rising thresholds:
| Badge | Requirement | Holders (Oct 26) |
|---|---|---|
| Hero Collector | Own 5 characters | 3,032 |
| Casting Call | Own 15 characters | 0 |
| Fan Favourite | Own 30 characters | 0 |
Nobody has 15 yet. That is not a content gap — it means the launch roster really is five, and the next twenty-five slots are the roadmap for weekly drops. If you are deciding whether to invest in one hero or spread coins thin, the badge ladder says the roster is about to expand, so early coins are best spent on gear that transfers (weapons and buddies) rather than on a second hero you will replace.
Skins Are a Separate System
Skins are tracked independently of the roster:
| Badge | Requirement | Holders (Oct 26) |
|---|---|---|
| Skin Deep | Unlock your first skin | 20,257 |
| Style Icon | Own 10 skins | 628 |
| Fashion Hero | Own 25 skins | 0 |
20,257 players have a first skin, which is more than double the number who own five heroes (3,032). Skins are cheap, cosmetic and clearly the intended early spend. The single skin code in circulation, FANCYFINN, would be a skin unlock rather than a hero — consistent with that split — but it is unverified.
Squad Size, Revives and the Co-op Badges
Servers hold 25 players, but the game distinguishes a full squad from a full server. Four badges set the rules:
| Badge | Requirement | Holders (Oct 26) | Reading |
|---|---|---|---|
| Team Finn | Clear a run without going down | 78,238 | The baseline "I finished something" badge |
| Come On Grab Your Friends | Clear a run with a full squad | 14,932 | Only 19% of the Team Finn group did it grouped |
| Better Together | 25 full-squad clears | 2 | Effectively untouched |
| No One Left Behind | Revive another player for the first time | 25,792 | Reviving is common, but one-off |
Two conclusions follow. First, solo is the default path for most players — the squad badges are an order of magnitude rarer than the solo clear. Second, reviving is a social habit people try once and then drop: 25,792 first revives against 10 players with fifty revives and zero with two hundred. If you want the rarest badges in this game, co-op consistency is a shorter road than any solo grind.
How to Pick Your First Hero
Since the numbers are not published, pick on the loop you want to run:
- If you are learning the game, take the hero whose weapon you can actually see in the official screenshot — Finn's sword — because melee timing is the easiest thing to read off the screen while you learn dungeon pacing.
- If you are playing in a squad, the support-shaped slot matters more than raw damage. Princess Bubblegum is the one the marketing frames as the team character; whether her kit is healing or buffing is the first thing to confirm.
- If you are farming solo, sustain beats burst at low gear. Marceline's framing points at lifesteal, and lifesteal is what gets you past the point where potions run out.
- If you are chasing the achievement list, BMO is the interesting pick: gadget-style kits tend to interact oddly with "own 5 weapons" and "upgrade a weapon" badges, and nobody has documented whether gadgets count.
If that reads like a set of unanswered questions rather than a tier list, that is the accurate state of the game in week one. Character stats are the single biggest gap in the Adventure Time RPG knowledge base, and this page is where the answers get added as they are confirmed.
FAQ
How many characters are in Adventure Time RPG? Five at launch: Finn, Jake, Princess Bubblegum, Marceline and BMO. Badges for 15 and 30 owned characters exist, so the roster is planned to grow, but nobody has more than five yet.
Do you have to pay Robux for Finn, Jake or Marceline? No character is sold through the game passes. The six passes cover currency, XP, revives and cosmetics only.
Can you play solo, or do you need a squad? Solo works — 78,238 players cleared a run without going down, while only 14,932 have done a full-squad clear. Grouping is optional but it is where the rare badges are.
What happens when you go down in a run? You can be revived by a teammate. 25,792 players have revived someone once; only ten have done fifty.
Are character skins shared across heroes? Skins are tracked as their own collection: 20,257 players own one, 628 own ten. They do not affect the five-character badge.
